  1. All the negative talk last week tisk tisk. I think this is nice it has a simple elegance to it I really enjoy the texture in the background. I'm not sure it totally tells your story but it's defiantly in the right direction.

  2. Yeah, I'm not 100% happy with it, and I really pushed myself to get away from all other previous notions I have about my text. I want to do one more... since I'm one behind anyway. Just wanted to upload and get some feedback. Thanks.

  3. Joe, I think using the metaphor of a seed growing into a tree to convey your basic concept of "perseverance" comes through in this new book.

I am very glad to see that you are trying a new way of communicating content. We had talked about your books being too literal, and this time you tried a different approach and I think that is something worthy to take notice and applaud you by.

I think I would like to have seen something more: like that the seed had to fight back against some hardships, so as to communicate the "don't' give up, and keep trying" aspect." Right now it's a series of images that show a seed growing into a tree. But there are many challenges in a seed growing into a seed. In my opinion, that would have given your book more connection with your content.

  4. I like the simplicity of the images as well as the 'growth' of the seed. I also agree with Yoon Soo about the perseverance aspect, maybe show an angry side with mother nature?

Like Beth said, the texture of the pages is really nice. What are the materials you used?

  5. Joe I am psyched you are on this path to conveying your text in a different, focused, and less literal way. I enjoyed your use of a growing seedling image to convey content. I am growing seedlings right now for my summer garden, and I am amazed at how they grow with such little nurturing. It would be nice to see that lack of nurturing take place as a way to understand that this seed really isn't giving up.

  6. I liked the consistency of the pages / images, it binds the book together, and it gives a clear message about growth. You might want to show that the seedling needs to overcome a struggle to survive, because that is what your text is about.

  7. Ditto with the above. Very nice job though. I like the colors too! Add mother nature and her fury.
